So as we begin to prepare our bodies for treks up Machu Pichu and others such mountains, we decided to take an amazing hike on the Appalachian trail on Friday! Skirting the Tennessee/North Carolina border, we made our way to the top of Clingmans Dome, the third highest peak in the eastern US and the highest in the majestic Smokey Mountains (6,643 ft). It only takes few miles on the greatest interstate trail in the US to become awestruck by the beauty of the Appalachians. Some day maybe we’ll do all 2,200 miles of the trail, but for now we were happy just getting a taste.
